Dr. Erin Fraher joined the NHS Workforce Review Team in August 2009 on a year’s secondment from the University of North Carolina, where she is Director of the Health Professions Data System (HPDS), at the Cecil G. Sheps Center for Health Services Research. At WRT, Erin will be acting as Academic Researcher.

Erin holds a PhD from the Department of Health Policy and Management at the University of North Carolina and a Masters in Public Policy from the University of California. Over the past 15 years, she has worked as a policy analyst and researcher in the United States, United Kingdom and Canada on a variety of health care issues.  

Erin is also an Investigator with the American College of Surgeons Institute for Health Policy Research, where her work focuses on variations in surgeons' workforce participation rates and career trajectories with respect to gender, age, and generational cohorts.   

During her secondment, Erin will take on the role of facilitator between WRT and the academic world, enabling access to research, assisting with research design and data analysis on workforce projects and working with the team to publish findings in the literature.
